March 22, 2013

Got approval to publish longer videos on YouTube
Asked Cathy Arima and Danielle Childs to do next step which I think is "unpublish" and then publish again.

And can we set up playlists for these videos?

Pushing localized OIVs to YouTube (NOT DONE) AI April: Check on status.

Check if any localized videos where pushed to youtube, if not then see if we can get them pushed. 3/19/13 status from Danielle:
All localized views are only from VidCaster views, not YouTube. We don't allow you to push your localized videos out to YouTube yet. You can see in your screen shot that at the bottom it shows you the viewing method as 100% your site. That means all views were on VidCaster. If you saw a percentage for YouTube, then you will know that your views include YouTube.

I have a developer working on a YouTube upgrade right now. We are going to make the analytics dashboard much clearer and display explicit VidCaster vs. YouTube counts. This upgrade ground work will help us build out your localized YouTube push as well.

4/22/13 I checked Vidcaster Admin (vmwarelearning.com/admin) and it does not look like any localized videos have been pushed to YouTube.

March 22, 2013 additional work request from Elaine

See if there are any missing eLearning courses that are a) on our pages (http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=33369&ui=www_edu) but not on the mylearn report that I sent you. You can use the last report I sent or I can send you one for this week if you prefer. Let me know.

Next steps for March 29, 2013 report

1 (Mary) Add the following courses to the elearning stats report (they are included on the elearning weekly report from Elaine but were not added to the summary report) (English only)
a. vCenter Operations Manager for View Fundamentals
b. vFabric GemFire Fundamentals
c. vFabric Hyperic Fundamentals
d. vFabric RabbitMQ Fundamentals
e. vFabric tc Server Fundamentals
f. VMware Capacity Planner 2.7
g. VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager Fundamentals [V5.1]
h. VMware vShield Edge Fundamentals [V5.X]
i. VMware vShield Endpoint Fundamentals [V5.X]
j. vSphere Data Protection and Recovery Fundamentals [V5.1]
2 (Mary) Resolve Japanese and Korean course reports. Both languages show up in report with three ???. Guess that the lower number is Korean and the higher views number is Japanese and update summary report.
3 Resolve question: Is this the same course? On the web the course is listed as VMware vSphere: Transition to ESXi Essentials [V5.X]. On report it’s listed as VMware vSphere: Transition to ESXi Essentials [V4.1]
a. Is this the same course?
b. OR are these courses different and therefore there are no numbers on the report for the [V5.x} version which is on the elearning site?
4 Resolve: Report lists this course with 1 view but the course is not listed on the Chinese elearning site: VMware vShield Fundamentals [V5.X]
5 Missing from weekly elearning report (English only)
a. VMware vCenter Chargeback Manager V2.5
b. VMware Fusion 3
c. VMware vCloud Architecture Toolkit (vCAT)

From 3/8/13 Notes

2. Will you see too if our new eLearning languages (like BCA for JP) are in there?  Thanks!
- No Japanese shows up on this report. A copy of the report is included under the date tab (for Jan 25 it is 012513).
??????? (7) = RU
??? (3) = KR AND Japanese. Not sure how to figure out which is which.
????? (5) = CN
???? (4) - simplified Chinese

3/22/13 Danielle: in video clicks

There are a couple of things to note about the link report.
Right now it shows a list of all the links and their daily clicks, but it groups clicks from different videos for the same link.
You can read the report as, for each link, this is how many clicks it got from all the videos it appeared in.

We are working with HapYak to track the specific video each link was in, so you can see which videos are driving clicks. HapYak tells me we should have this sorted out by the end of next week.

It also looks like not all of the links that should be up are in this report. Overall, I don't find much value in this preliminary report because many of these clicks are probably from our own testing while putting up the links.

I think we need to wait two weeks to tweak the reporting settings and provide a good week of data before we can make a decision on whether or not these links are working. Another factor will be that they are at the end of the video, so if we find they are not receiving many clicks, the next step will be to consider placing them earlier in the videos.

March 28, 2013 from Elaine

vCloud Networking and Security Fundamentals [V5.X]

Keep an eye out for it on the metrics report. There should be at least one that registered (me).

4/14/13 from Danielle to Elaine

Hi Elaine,

Here is the first in-video link report. I filtered the data to show only English video clicks. The data in the reports shows only videos that received at least one click. We set up the click tracking on the evening of 4/4, so the report starts on 4/5.

I am working on getting this data into your admin. It should be available in a few weeks. I will send Friday reports until then. There are not many clicks, but do note that these links are all at the end of the video. I expect click rates will increase if the links are moved to earlier in the video, which we will probably need to do once we start putting up the quiz questions at the end of the video.

Hi Elaine,

Would it be possible to have Mary break out our Q1 education proliferation metrics (OIVs, elearning) by EUC vs. SDDC? … Today? SDDC would be everything that is not EUC

Hi Elaine,

I don't see the blue highlights (or two new columns?) in the attachment….

Will you resend?

I get a weekly eLearn report from mylearn detailing how many users access our free eLearning. Can you submit a CR requesting that this report add two columns (as shown in my attached example report in blude highlights) to detail how many were VMware Employees versus how many were customers (which can then add up to the total Reg number).

Please include that this request is from Laura Narducci and Rick Jackson. Let me know the CR number and include in your weekly status report as this has HIGH visibility.

Hi Elaine,

There is a request to understand who is registering/viewing the elearning courses.

Can you request a data pull from mylearn of all registrants so we can determine (as much as possible) how registrations are split by vmware employee/partner/external?

May 22, 2013 Elaine discussion

  • Danielle working on better reporting of InVideo links: measuring how many people click on a link inside a video. Watch and track when possible
  • Split: how many watching End User Computing (EUC) and how many watching Software Defined DataCenter (SDC).
    • Elaine will forward email
    • Want this report.
  • Getting data on some of the education pages; for example, top classes by time zone. Then she thinks we lose people (and data of their views) when they login because that data goes somewhere else.
    • What kind of data am I able to derive with that?
  • Pass any questions to Cindy Chin - Elaine will send her email. She is on Omniture team.
  • Are we getting all the info per report (the login reporting issue, if it exits)
  • How many people are looking at eLearning:
    • VMware employees
    • Non VMware employees

- eLearning report (ensure our Localization page courses are included) 3/25/13 DONE. See Audit report to Elaine 3/23/13
- OR
- eLearning only – no demo (Elaine to confirm)
