Audience

Audience

  • Who are they
  • What do they like
  • Where are they
  • Why should they care
  • How do they like to interact

Your Audience is…

  • Ask existing and past clients/customers (informal)
  • Conduct an old-fashioned market research (formal surveys, Zoomerange, and phone interviews with random people in target audience)
  • Ask your social media followers what they think (questions and mini polls)
  • Be a "lurker"
    • Find discussion groups in your focus area by doing searches on keywords and investigating sites
    • Find blogs in your focus areas
    • Conduct searches on twitter, Linked IN, YouTube, and Facebook and follow the conversations
  • Keep up on your audience by using social media monitoring tools that provide insights (like facebook insights, YouTube insights, Google insights for search, Google Trends, Quantcast) and continuing to lurk and pay attention to what they do and don't do.
  • Be adaptable and open to feedback and changing any approach that isn't working
